Fact file

In North America 75% of all new builds are prefabricated using modern methods of construction.

Modern Construction Methods

ConstrECO2 Environmental Building Technology

Environmental Building Technology (EBT) is about better products and processes.

By using Environmental Building Technology we are improving business efficiency, quality, customer satisfaction, environmental performance, sustainability and the predictability of delivery timescales. Modern Methods of Construction is, therefore, more broadly based than a particular focus on product. We engage people to seek improvement, through better processes, in the delivery and performance of our construction

By using EBT we mean to achieve:

  • Greater business efficiency
  • Enhanced design and quality
  • Improved customer satisfaction
  • Enhanced building performance
  • Increased housing supply meeting the aspirations of the market as a whole (open market, social and affordable)
  • Enhanced environmental performance with reduced impact

We are also working with PRC Architects and our timber-frame home supplier, ConstrECO2 , based in Angmering, West Sussex in delivering homes that will be built to the meet the requirements of the New Sustainability Code level 3 as our base model. We use ConstrECO2 large timber closed panel technology imported from Germany for our houses and buildings. See photos of the design of homes that can be built using this technology. By using offsite manufacturing it is faster, safer and more efficient than traditional site based construction, thereby substantially reducing overall development costs and time.

Our buildings can come in a variety of facade treatments, ranging from render systems, stone cladding, wooden cladding and brick slips. We can install energy efficiency systems such as photovoltaic’s, solar panels, wind turbines and ground source heat pumps.

Wood is an environmentally friendly, renewable resource; it combines strength with versatility and is an excellent natural insulator. Timber panel buildings offer better levels of acoustic and thermal insulation, making them more energy efficient and comfortable to live and work in.

ConstrECO2 closed timber panel construction is designed to have 70% of the house produced in the factory – quality and precision are set out to the highest standards! Our experienced German team of building specialists will then erect the building onsite – not only in one or two days but accurate to the millimetre.

We have worked with Cartwright Pickard Architects along with Pace Timber Systems who launched the award winning Optima Homes in March 2005. This house building system uses timber frame off-site construction methods to cut costs, waste and environmental impact. These modern methods also result in improved design, flexibility, and speed of construction, procurement process, quality of materials and overall quality of the structures. As NGM's concrete bases are built to within 1mm precision, it lends itself perfectly to the both ConstrECO2 and Optima Homes systems.

Some features:

  • Non-traditional housing supply chain
  • Greatly reduced delivery time
  • Efficient delivery and best value
  • Reduced costs through economies of scale
  • Reduced construction waste and environmental impact
  • Excellent Eco-Homes rating
